Suurpelto Centre – A modern local centre in a growing urban centre in Espoo

Suurpelto will grow into a new urban centre in Espoo, including various forms of housing, public services, culture and commercial services for daily shopping needs. The service range of the modern shopping centre will focus on diverse daily consumer goods, and smaller supporting shops and services. The centre is easily accessible and visible to Ring Road II.

Some premises will open towards a marketplace

The first floor of the shopping centre will be home to diverse daily consumer goods services and smaller shops and services, some of which will open towards the marketplace in front of the shopping centre. The second floor will include various commercial and exercise premises, public services, and healthcare and wellbeing services like city library, gym and pharmacy.

The number of residents in Suurpelto is increasing

The population of 2,500 in Suurpelto is increasing. In 2025, the area is estimated to have 10,000 inhabitants. The local market area covers Suurpelto, Henttaa and Mankkaa. Its current population is more than 11,000.

Excellent visibility, good transport connections

Suurpelto is located along Ring Road II in the middle of Espoo, offering good transport connections. The centre to be built at the heart of the most rapidly growing area in Espoo will be excellently visible from Ring Road II, which offers enormous additional potential for commerce. Some 60,000 vehicles drive past the centre every day.

Centre with a BREEAM environmental certificate

The Suurpelto centre will reach the Very Good level of the international BREEAM environmental certification system. The requirements set by BREEAM, the most common environmental certification system in Europe, guide the design of the shopping centre in ten different categories. Various evaluation criteria include the transportation distance of building materials, the surrounding infrastructure, accessibility using public transportation, energy efficiency, the use of chemicals and waste processing.
