Hylliebadet Malmö

NCC built Malmö’s new leisure pool – an exciting destination with a key position in the local area that links the existing built environment with the new development.

Measuring 11,000 m2, the leisure pool partially replaces Malmö's previous facility, Aqua-kul.

All the areas are accessible to people with a disability. The windows are positioned to admit plenty of light and to provide swimmers with views of the green surroundings. There has been a strong focus on making the pool complex energy-efficient and this has influenced many of the chosen solutions. The outer walls, made from a pigmented concrete with a blasted finish, are extra well insulated, for example. Other solutions include solar panels on the roof and a water treatment technique that minimizes energy losses.

Hylliebadet is designed to welcome 300,000 visitors a year and comprises:

  • 50 m pool, divisible into two 25 m pools
  • 2 teaching pools, one with a height-adjustable bottom to vary the depth
  • A family pool with two waterslides: Magic Eye and Black Hole
  • Relaxation area with sauna and 3 pools
  • Fitness facilities
