NCC wins assignment for new train depot in Skåne

NCC has been commissioned to construct a new train maintenance depot for the Öresund trains (Öresundstågen). The project is being carried out in two phases, with the partners in the first phase focusing on preparing construction documents and a target price for the project. Once this is completed, the parties can sign a construction contract with an estimated order value of approximately SEK 550 million.

The project relates to the construction of a train depot in Kärråkra, Hässleholm, for maintenance, repairs, inspections and cleaning of the Öresund trains and the Pågatåg trains (Pågatågen), covering some 26,000 square meters of floor space.

“We look forward to commencing work on this project with Region Skåne. The new train depot will improve maintenance possibilities for the regional trains, which is an important part of ensuring the efficient operation of train services in the region,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

The assignment will be carried out in partnering form and be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, NCC and Region Skåne will draft project engineering documents, project plans and a target price for the contract.

The depot will comprise five buildings containing carriage and wagon works, offices, a train cleaning building, wheel-turning equipment, an intermodal building, a goods-receiving station and a cleaning platform. The project is scheduled to be completed in summer 2019.

Construction start is scheduled for autumn 2017 and NCC’s part of the assignment, with a potential order value of approximately SEK 550 million, is expected to be registered in the fourth quarter of 2017 in the Building business area.
