NCC to build 374 new rental apartments in Linköping

NCC has been commissioned by Fastighets AB L E Lundberg to build 374 new residential rental units in the area of Södra Ekkällan in Linköping.  The order is worth SEK 515 million.

“It is very positive that we had an opportunity early in the planning stage to have an input in the definitive design of the new project at Södra Ekkällan and now to also be entrusted with building on the site that we sold to them earlier,” says Henrik Landelius, Manager of NCC Building in Sweden.

The apartments, which will be environmentally certified at Sweden Green Building Council level Silver, will be located in two different property blocks, with each block surrounding an atrium with an underlying garage. The largely plastered brick buildings will be designed as four to ten-story apartment blocks.

“Södra Ekkällan is an attractive area that has grown rapidly. The area’s close proximity to both the town center and recreation areas makes it very attractive to residents. There are also a number of major workplaces close by. These new housing units will be a welcome addition to our existing property holdings in Linköping,” says Peter Whass, President of Fastighets AB L E Lundberg.

Construction start is scheduled for autumn 2016, assuming that the detailed development plan and building permit have become legally effective. Completion and occupancy will occur in stages, with the final building estimated to be ready for occupancy in late 2019.

The order will be registered during the second quarter of 2016 in the NCC Building business area.
