“Our aim is to develop buildings to their full potential. An environmental certificate such as BREEAM is an excellent tool to evaluate and improve a building’s environmental impact. It also serves as a guarantee mark for both tenants and investors, says Erik Widmark, Director Sveafastigheter. We see that certificates enabling comparison of properties between countries are becoming a pre-requisite for internal investors.”
Commercial properties developed on a proprietary basis by NCC are environmentally certified according to BREEAM, which is the world’s foremost, and according to many, the most challenging environmental assessment system for buildings.
“A sound work environment with customized lighting, acoustics and air quality increases the well-being, health and productivity of those who work and visit the building,” says Veronica Koutny Sochman, Environmental Manager for NCC Property Development. “Choosing a BREEAM-certified building from NCC will make tenants and property owners well equipped to meet future requirements for sustainable solutions.”
With the Birsta property, NCC will have received 13 environmental certificates under BREEAM. NCC’s RPG logistics center project has the highest recorded certification in the segment and NCC’s Koggen 2 project has the highest recorded classification for an office building in the Nordic region.
The property in Birsta has total leasable space of 4,850 square meters and houses bed manufacturer Kungsängen, as well as XXL Sport & Vildmark. Phase 1 of the Birsta property was sold in 2013 to Sveafastigheter Fund III.
